Local governments no longer have the luxury to abstain from efforts to reduce their carbon footprint. Waste reduction must become a local issue, prioritized by municipalities from the town level, to villages and school boards. Under my leadership, the Town of Brookhaven will seek to partner with Suffolk County and local businesses on waste reduction, and standardize waste reduction best practices within town offices and buildings.

Standardized, town-wide government Paperless Initiative.
Tax incentives for proper household composting.
Public information page and events on best practices for household waste reduction.
Intergovernmental waste-reduction partnerships.
Develop and publicize a long-term waste reduction plan.
